ℹ️ About XP Down Detector

Who We Are

XP Down Detector is an independent status monitoring service designed to help internet users worldwide quickly answer one essential question: is the service I'm trying to use down, or is the problem on my end? We monitor 19+ popular digital platforms — ranging from regional services (BCA, Tokopedia, Shopee, Gojek, Grab) to global giants (WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Netflix, Google, Spotify, X) — within a nostalgic, responsive Windows XP desktop environment.

How It Works

We combine two continuous data streams to generate accurate real-time statuses:

  • Automated health checks. Every 60 seconds, our servers probe the availability of official service endpoints, recording HTTP response status and latency. A 24-hour history is preserved to compute reliable uptime metrics.
  • Community crowd reports. Visitors experiencing issues can submit outage reports detailing problem types (cannot access, extremely slow, login failure, app errors, or other) along with optional notes.

The final status is determined by evaluating 15-minute report volume spikes against historical baselines, correlated with server health checks. Real-time updates are streamed live to your browser via Server-Sent Events (SSE) without needing manual page reloads.

Why It's Free and How We Fund It

This service is free for all users. Server and monitoring costs are covered by non-intrusive third-party advertisements (Google AdSense). Advertisements never influence status calculations or service prioritizations. Further data and cookie usage details are available in our Privacy Policy.

Our Principles

  • Independent. We are completely unaffiliated with any of the brands we monitor and accept no compensation to manipulate status ratings.
  • Transparent. Our calculation methodology is publicly explained on this page and on each dedicated service page.
  • Lightweight. All status insights, speed tests, and outage tools are accessible immediately without sign-up or registration.
